Chez Prune: A Charming Bar Experience by the Canal Saint Martin in Paris

Lovely neighbourhood bistro with really good wines and beers. We didn't order food, and only had a couple of drinks in the terasse but really felt like it was a local hang-out place. Even if the kitchen was closed, the people sat next to us ordered a salami and some patè which looked really good.

Great service, good price and most importantly tasty food. We started with the Pate and bread. The bread was local - from a baker down the road. Both were very tasty. For the main the table then got either the fish or beef, all with an addition of dauphinoise potatoes. It was very tasty! I got the fish and was pleasantly surprised by how tender and perfectly cooked it was. Even the green beans and mushrooms were packed with flavour. The best part was the sauce! We then went on to get dessert. I got the chocolate cake which was gooey in the centre and cakey on the outside. It was dense, rich and sweet. The cream served with it balanced the sweetness. It was a small slice but I struggled to finish it because of how rich it was. Next time I would get the crème brûlée which was also divine. This restaurant is a little hidden gem. I would come back.

Typical French bistro by the canal, what a vibe. Great for people watching. The menu changes daily & the food was not bad. Could be a tiny bit saltier. The server was friendly!
